When is the best time to come to Kodiak to fish?

Fishing season is from June through September. You should plan your trip around what kind of fishing you want to focus on.

Ocean fishing: King Salmon run from May through August. Silver Salmon run from June through August. Halibut can be fished June through September, however on Tuesday and Wednesday halibut fishing is not allowed.

River Fishing: Red/Sockeye Salmon run from June through early August. Pink Salmon Run from Mid-July through September. Silver Salmon run from Mid-August through October.

What do we need to bring for day charters?

For ocean charters, we recommend layered clothing, rain gear, rubber boots, a fishing license, sunscreen, and dramamine if needed. We do NOT provide meals, only light snacks and water.

For Side by side charters, we recommend wearing rain gear or waders, layered clothing, sunscreen, polarized sunglasses, and fishing licenses. We provide hip waders, rods, and tackle. We do NOT provide meals or water.

What licenses do I need?

You will need a fishing license with a king stamp. You may either obtain a fishing license here on island once you arrive or you may purchase one online at the ADFG website. On island, Walmart and Big Ray’s both offer fishing licenses. Fishing licenses must be on you at all times while fishing.

What are the fishing limits per person?

Daily limits: King Salmon-1, Pink Salmon- 5, Silver Salmon-2, Rockfish-5, Ling Cod-2, Yelloweye-1, Halibut- 1 over 27 inches and 1 under 27 inches

Do you process our fish?

No, we do not process your fish.  You may process your own fish OR we can drop them off at a local processor, Wild Source. Wild Source charges $3.65 per finished pound, meaning you only pay for the weight that you take home.  They will be flash frozen and ready to either shipped to your home for an additional cost or can be taken on the plane as checked bags.

How many people are allowed to come with the package?

We are limited to a maximum of 6 passengers on the boat, in accordance with our USCG regulations.

What is included with the vacation package?

The vacation package includes exclusive use of the 8 seat van, stay in our beautiful Guesthouse, and 3 full day adventures. The only thing NOT included is meals.

What can I expect when I arrive to Kodiak for my trip?

John and Katrina will meet you at the airport and will give you a tour around town. They will give you a tour of the Guesthouse. There will be a detailed Welcome binder in the Guesthouse to answer all of the questions you might have. John will meet with everyone and discuss the recommended days for Ocean or river fishing based on client preference and weather.

What should I pack for the vacation package?

Please check our Packing List for what you can plan on bringing with you. The Guesthouse is fully equipped with everything you might need, including a vaccuum sealer and your own chest freezer.

Do you have cell phone coverage and internet?

Yes we have both AT&T and Verizon cellular coverage and Starlink for internet.
